How to Demonstrate Archimedes' Principle

Archimedes' principle states that "an immersed body is buoyed up by a force that is equal to the weight of the fluid that it displaces". Both liquids and gases are fluids. A container that has a volume of one liter that is completely submerged in water will displace one liter of water. One liter of water has a mass of one kilogram, so weighs one kilogram. If the container that has a volume of one liter weighs less than one kilogram, it will float. If the container weighs more than one kilogram, it will sink.

Edit Steps1Take an empty plastic soda bottle and cap it tightly.
